For lovers of artisan food and beverage – this is the big one. You can start the gourmet trail in Timboon, which takes you down to Port Campbell, across and up to Simpson, and back to Timboon again. Or you can go the reverse order and see the sun set over the ocean.

Explore the Trail

Some of the highlights include Sow and Piglets Brewpub in Port Campbell, Apostle Whey Cheese at Cooriemungle, Dairylicious Farm Fudge are Curdievale and Keayang Maar Vineyard near Terang.

The food trail has something to satisfy everyone’s sweet and savoury taste buds, and the drive, as part of the experience, is spectacular with coastal views, forest and rolling green farmland.

Don’t miss a stop at the famous 12 Apostles, which is enroute, a short walk to the fully accessible lookout will capture views of these magnificent limestone stacks. Nearby Gibson Steps, which takes you onto the beach via 86 steps carved into the towering cliff, is a must-do, and great way to burn off some of the foodie treats you’ve gathered on the trail.

DAY 3: Burn some energy at Childers Cove

After all that eating, today’s the day to burn off some energy at Childers Cove and plug into nature.

DAY 4: A day about town

Before you head home, here are a few more things you should do and see in and around Timboon. You can hire a bike or e-bike from Ride With Us to access trails leading both north (via the Camperdown-Timboon Rail Trail), or South via the new 17-kilometre trail linking Timboon to Port Campbell.

Rail Trestle Bridge
This heritage listed trestle bridge was built in 1892 and is one of the few surviving railway structures of this type in Victoria. You can access the bridge when heading of Timboon on the Terang-Warrnambool Road, turning right just after the Shell Service Station and following the signs for 5kms.

If you’ve come to Timboon with the kids in tow, you need to wear them out before piling them into the car for the drive home. Right behind the distillery is a modern train themed playground, skate park, barbecue area and a sloping grassy area for the kids to roll down.
