Let me help you plan your Great Ocean Road trip
I am here to help you explore the Great Ocean Road region, but I’m still learning and can make mistakes. For the best local advice, visit a visitor information centre. This is a large region, so plan for travel distances and your length of stay.
Hello

Gibson Steps Beach Closure:
Gibson Steps beach access is currently closed due to recent rock fall events. Parks Victoria have engaged the services of a geotechnical engineer and working through the recommendations to allow the site to be opened.
Prepare to be awestruck by the sheer magnitude of the cliffs and offshore stacks at Gibson Steps, just west of Princetown. The dramatic limestone formations, shaped by nature over millions of years, offer a humbling experience, with towering cliffs and the iconic offshore stacks known as Gog and Magog standing as testament to the forces of the Southern Ocean. These striking features are not part of the famed 12 Apostles but are remarkable in their own right.
You can park at the 12 Apostles car park and walk 1.1km to Gibson Steps along a section of the Great Ocean Walk, this path is crushed rock and is suitable for wheelchairs and prams. The walk safely underpasses the Great Ocean Road, taking you to the viewing platform and beach access. Alternatively, park at the Gibson Steps car park, a short 50m accessible walk to the lookout provides views of the beach and rock formations. Beach access is via steps.
The Gibson Steps car park has designated accessible parking. The viewing platform is accessible, but access to the descent is only manageable for a short distance. The walk from the 12 Apostles is not suitable for prams, wheelchairs, or mobility scooters.
