Let me help you plan your Great Ocean Road trip

I am here to help you explore the Great Ocean Road region, but I’m still learning and can make mistakes. For the best local advice, visit a visitor information centre. This is a large region, so plan for travel distances and your length of stay.

Hello

Hi! Let me help you plan your Great Ocean Road trip

Poorpa Yanyeen Meerreeng
Timboon – Port Campbell Trail

Experience the best of nature and adventure on the newly opened Poorpa Yanyeen Meerreeng Timboon – Port Campbell Trail.

Discover a 2.5m wide, 19.3km, multi-purpose trail through Keerray Wooroong Country in South West Victoria. The trail meanders through tall forest, rolling farmland, coast gully thicket and wetland connecting the food artisan hub of Timboon to the charming coastal village of Port Campbell. Elevated bridges over cattle underpasses and a cantilevered boardwalk overlooking the Southern Ocean are key trail features.

Facilities Along the Way

Trail users reaching Port Campbell can take in elevated views of the town at the lookout carpark, with bike parking provided. Pedestrians can descend into the township via stairs and a suspension bridge, while cyclists can continue on a footpath for the final 1.5 kilometres.

Will I need a map?

Well you’ll get a printed one eventually but not yet. See interactive map below and while it is far from final, you can download a temporary map here.

If you are in the area and ready to ride you can also take a photo of one of our temporary maps near the start of the trail in Timboon or Port Campbell.

We are not expecting trail users will get lost or disoriented on a trail that only goes in two directions

Can I ride from Port Campbell to the 12 Apostles?

Not yet! But as the working title for the project suggests there are plans that the trail will continue east to link to Loch Ard Gorge, 12 Apostles, Gibson Steps and Princetown.

We don’t recommend riding on the Great Ocean Road due to a narrow road shoulder, poor sight lines and view distracted drivers.

Check out the Port Campbell – 12 Apostles – Princetown backways link as an alternative route for Mountain and Gravel bikes that avoids large sections of the Great Ocean Road.
