The Surf Coast is known for its dramatic coastline and diverse natural landscapes, but conditions can change quickly. Before you travel, take a few minutes to check current conditions and be prepared for the areas you're visiting.
Before You Travel

Download the VicEmergency app and make sure you are receiving notifications for the areas you are travelling within.

- Check the forecast
Check weather forecasts, including Fire Danger Ratings and any heat or storm forecasts. Never travel to a region where a Catastrophic Fire Danger Day has been declared.

- Know your route
Familiarise yourself with the key access routes in and out of the area you’re visiting and know the location of the designated Bushfire Place of Last Resort.

- Be ready to change your plans and leave early
Be prepared to change your travel plans and leave early if Extreme or Catastrophic fire danger conditions are forecast.
