Mt Elephant

Visible from 60 kilometres in every direction, Mount Elephant is an iconic feature of the landscape.

Every Sunday from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm, visitors have the chance to climb to its summit for breathtaking views and an unforgettable nature experience.

The area around Mount Elephant is teeming with life. Kangaroos and wallabies can often be spotted in the bush at the base of the mount. Overhead, hawks and eagles circle in search of prey, while smaller birds flit among the dense vegetation, adding a lively charm to the environment.

Visitor Centre

The modern Visitor Centre features a unique design and offers:

  • Nature displays
  • Light refreshments
  • Spectacular views
  • Toilet facilities

Staffed by friendly local volunteers, the centre is an excellent resource for insights about the region. The venue is also available for hire and can accommodate groups of up to 50 people. Catering services and tailored education packages are available for school groups of any level.

Walking Tracks

  • John and Millie Borbridge Track: A two-kilometre return walk from the car park to the peak.
  • Crater Rim Walk: An additional three-kilometre circuit around the crater rim.

Both walks include steep and uneven sections, making them unsuitable for prams, wheelchairs, or those with limited mobility.

Accessibility

The tracks and facilities may not be suitable for those with access needs due to steep, uneven terrain.
