Camperdown Botanic Gardens
At the top of a windswept hill, you will find the Camperdown Botanic Gardens and Arboretum. They occupy a spectacular site with views across the ancient Western Victorian volcanic plains and the crater lakes of Bullen Merri and Gnotuk. This is the sacred land of the Djargurd Wurrung people – Eastern Maar Country.
Significant Trees
Established in 1869, the gardens showcase the expertise of Daniel Bunce and later William Guilfoyle, who enhanced the grounds in 1888. The Camperdown Botanic Gardens feature four tree species listed on the Significant Tree Registry: the African Holly, an avenue of nine Linden trees, two Himalayan Oaks, and the New Zealand Akiraho. The lush canopy also includes majestic Elms, Cedars, and Pines, making it a haven for nature lovers and tree enthusiasts alike.

To comply with local by-laws and ensure safety for visitors and residents, dogs must be on leads at all times and owners need to be carrying bags to clean up after them.
