Hopkins Falls
Discover the awe-inspiring Hopkins Falls, Victoria’s widest cascades spanning an impressive ninety metres.
Victoria’s Widest Cascades
Hopkins Falls are set in lush dairy country and are Victoria’s widest cascades, spanning an impressive 90 metres. Resembling curtains of cascading water, they are a breathtaking sight best viewed in winter or after heavy rainfall. Even in the warmer months, they retain their charm, offering tranquil picnic, fishing, and walking opportunities with facilities like gas BBQs and toilets provided.
For a few days in early summer each year, witness one of nature’s most extraordinary migrations. Baby short-finned eels (elvers) can be seen leaping over the rocky ledges of the falls as they make their journey upstream from the Coral Sea, an awe-inspiring 3,000-kilometre trek to their freshwater homes.
Follow the easy walking path to the pools below for a closer look at the cascades and the serenity of this unique spot.
