Step into nature: your guide to the best walks and waterfalls in the Otways

Discover the magic of the Otways, where lush rainforest, cascading waterfalls, and tranquil trails invite you to immerse yourself in nature. Otway national park waterfalls are beautiful and abundant. And there are Cape Otway walks for walkers of all abilities. Popular waterfalls include Carisbrook Falls — which is a short and easy walk (only 10 mins from the carpark on an evenly graded path to a lookout over the gorge).

Waterfalls around the Otways

Hopetoun Falls has a viewing platform 20 metres from the carpark which offers spectacular views of the falls as they crash into the Aire River. Beauchamp Falls rewards a somewhat strenuous walk (about an hour return, and requires reasonable fitness). It’s 20-metres tall, and crashes over a ledge into a large pool just outside Beech Forest.

Walks around the Otways

The Otways offers walks for every adventurer, from leisurely nature strolls to multi-day treks. Explore the renowned Great Ocean Walk, a 110-kilometre coastal journey from Apollo Bay to the 12 Apostles, with dramatic cliffs, remote beaches, and lush rainforest. For shorter adventures, the Cape Otway Lighthouse Walk combines stunning ocean views with history, while the Maits Rest Rainforest Walk provides an easy 800-metre loop through ancient trees and fern gullies.
