Torquay and around the Surf Coast has some of the most pristine beaches ideal for swimming. Cosy Corner is a very popular beach with usually calm water.

Beaches

Torquay and Jan Juc have patrolled beaches with lifeguards on duty at certain times of year.  Between Torquay front beach and the rocks at Point Danger and Fishermans Beach is between Whites Beach and Zeally Bay 

Always swim between the yellow and red flags, these are moved regularly for safe swimming. Make sure you never swim alone. Do you know how to spot a rip? If not, ask the lifesaver on duty, rips are dangerous and can get you in trouble very quickly.

Get the Point

Point Danger Marine Sanctuary is a reef ideal for snorkeling and exploring the diverse marine life at low tide. The area between Torquay’s back and front beaches is a small limestone reef,  which is only exposed at the lowest of summer tides. It lies just offshore and is often isolated from the beach by a deep sandy channel. A shipwreck lies there, the Joseph H. Scammell. Covered in small boulders and intricate seaweed beds, the reef is home to a number of weird and wonderful creatures.
