Discover accessible trails and scenic walks along rivers, lakes, waterfalls, and the coast – perfect for visitors of all abilities.

The Great Ocean Road region is renowned for its stunning coastal views, lush forests, and vibrant towns – and many of these natural treasures can be enjoyed by everyone. A number of walks and trails in the region have been assessed and accredited as accessible by Victoria Walks, making them suitable for trail users of all abilities.

Anglesea River Accessible Walk

This scenic trail follows the Anglesea River, offering a relaxing and mostly flat route that’s perfect for all abilities. Enjoy river views, picnic spots, and a peaceful connection with nature.

 
Good to Know:
  • Distance & Time: 3.25 km, approx. 1 hour
  • Surface: West bank – sealed, smooth, flat; East bank – compacted, firm, smooth with boardwalks before narrowing
  • Facilities: Accessible toilets and Changing Places bathroom at the start; ramped shelter with BBQs and wheelchair-friendly picnic tables; seating along the path

Stevensons Falls Accessible Walk, Barramunga

Experience the beauty of Stevensons Falls on a trail designed for all abilities. The accessible path brings you close to the waterfall and surrounding forest, offering a refreshing and scenic escape.

  • Surface: Compact gravel with some coarse, stony sections; plastic non-slip boardwalks and safety rails by the river; sealed concrete path to and across the river bridge
  • Facilities: Accessible toilet at the start; accessible viewing platform for the falls

Lake Colac and Colac Botanic Gardens Accessible Walk

Take a gentle stroll around Lake Colac and explore the historic Colac Botanic Gardens, where manicured gardens meet scenic lake views. This accessible route is perfect for a peaceful day outdoors.

  • Distance & Time: 4.86 km, approx. 1 hour 30 minutes
  • Surface: Firm, wide, and smooth paths; foreshore and Queens Avenue paths are sealed; Botanical Gardens paths are compacted gravel with some small lips between surfaces
  • Facilities: Accessible toilet at the start; seating along the walk; accessible drinking fountains; BBQs and picnic tables

Lake Pertobe Accessible Walk, Warrnambool

Enjoy a leisurely walk around Lake Pertobe, featuring open parklands, lakeside views, and family-friendly spaces. This mostly flat trail is perfect for a calm day outdoors.
