Fairhaven Beach
Just next door to Aireys Inlet, Fairhaven Beach is one of the region’s most popular, with its long stretch of pristine sand extending for 6 km. Patrolled during the summer months, it’s a great choice for safe swimming and surfing. The Fairhaven Surf Life Saving Club provides amenities and is a fantastic place to relax after a day by the water. Don’t miss a paddle along the serene Painkalac Creek on a SUP or canoe for a change of pace.
Sunnymead Beach
Sunnymead Beach
Tucked away from the main road, Sunnymead Beach offers a more secluded experience. With its golden sands nestled between rugged cliffs, it’s an ideal spot for swimming, sunbathing, or simply enjoying the coastal views. The beach is also popular for bodyboarding thanks to its gentle waves, making it a hidden gem for those seeking a quieter escape.
Inlet Beach
Perfect for families with small children, Inlet Beach offers calm waters and shallow areas ideal for paddling. Located near the grassy picnic area and toilets, it’s a convenient and safe spot for a fun day at the beach. The nearby Painkalac Creek estuary is also great for exploring, either on foot or by paddleboard.
Sandy Gully Beach & Step Beach
These smaller, unpatrolled beaches offer a sense of solitude. Accessed via steps from the cliffs, Sandy Gully Beach provides a quiet place for swimming and sunbathing. Step Beach, with its striking rocky formations, is perfect for a leisurely beachcomb or an afternoon of relaxation.
Rockpools and Snorkelling
For those who love to explore, the sandy coves around the base of the Split Point Lighthouse are filled with natural rock pools, teeming with marine life. These coves are also popular for snorkelling and scuba diving, providing a window into the underwater wonders of Eagle Rock Marine Sanctuary.
Tide Considerations
Be sure to check the tides before setting out to explore the rock pools or snorkelling around the coves. Low tide reveals fascinating marine life, but it’s important to be aware of rising water levels for a safe and enjoyable adventure.
