On most weekends you’ll find quality markets in the towns and villages, where local producers bring their home-grown fruit and vegetables. Get there early though, as produce sells quickly!
Local cafes and restaurants take advantage of the seasonal offerings, incorporating the different types of produce into their evolving menus.
But, in summer and autumn, the public can go berry picking and experience first hand the luscious offerings of a rich and fertile land in and around the Otways.

Surf Coast Strawberry Fields – Mt Duneed
A Pick Your Own strawberry farm situated on the Surf Coast Highway not far from Torquay with strawberries ready to be picked from November until April. With coffee and ice cream on offer too it’s a wonderful excursion for the whole family!
Berry World – Timboon
Here you can pick your own juicy strawberries from October to April with amazing views and farm animals! Timboon is a great spot to visit after you’ve seen the 12 Apostles, and if you want to stop in for lunch, grab some Berry Good Thai amongst the strawberry fields.
Otway Blueberries – Gellibrand
Pick yourself some fresh blueberries between December and March – they are even open public holidays too! Take the kids along to learn how blueberries grow and how to pick them. Take your own tupperware and grab extra to freeze when you get home!
You can even make this a day out and visit the iconic Otway Fly Treetop Adventures too.
Wrap up the day with ice cream!
Keep the kids’ spirits high and continue your berry-themed day by stopping for some of the best ice cream in the Great Ocean Road region! You could even top it with some of your fresh picked berries. What a treat!
