The Port Fairy to Warrnambool Rail Trail is a 37.5-kilometre shared-use trail along the former railway line, linking the historic towns of Port Fairy and Koroit with the regional city of Warrnambool. Suitable for walking, cycling, the mostly flat, traffic-free trail can be travelled in either direction, with access from Port Fairy, Warrnambool, or intermediate points.
The trail passes through open farmland, coastal wetlands, and urban areas. Highlights include views of Tower Hill, crossings over rivers and wetlands, and sections that skirt coastal dunes near Warrnambool. Koroit to Warrnambool

Continue from Koroit along wetlands and coastal reserves, skirt Tower Hill Reserve, cross rivers and Kellys Swamp, and travel through Lake Pertobe before finishing at the Warrnambool Breakwater. This section combines natural, historical, and coastal features, passing a mix of farmland, remnant vegetation, and urban areas.
Good To Know:
Gravel, boardwalks over wetlands, and some sealed sections through town. Horses are permitted from Penshurst-Warrnambool Rd (C183) in Koroit to Levys Point. Trail signage is minimal between Warrnambool and Illowa. Public toilets, cafés, and facilities available at Koroit and Warrnambool.
