The Grotto, located near Port Campbell (approx. 9km west) along the Great Ocean Road, is a stunning coastal formation where the ocean meets a natural sinkhole, creating a window-like view of the crashing waves beyond. This tranquil yet dramatic spot showcases the raw beauty of the region’s limestone cliffs, with tidal pools forming at the base during low tide. The interplay of light, water, and rock creates an enchanting scene perfect for photos.
Access to The Grotto involves a short walk from the car park, including a well-maintained path and a series of steps leading down to a lower viewing area. While the upper platform is pram and wheelchair-friendly, the descent to the lower lookout is not accessible for those with mobility challenges. From the top, visitors can enjoy panoramic views of the rugged coastline and Southern Ocean.
