The Gypsy’s Lunchbox was founded in November 2014 by Adrian and Jessica Lal; AKA the chef and the barista. Adrian and Jess first met in Bali in 2012 . Since then the pair have been on a journey through the culinary world, bonded by their passion for the finer things in life; good food, wine and coffee.
That journey has taken them through Europe, Asia and most notably food-wise – the US, Mexico and the Caribbean.
From their love of food and Jess’ family’s background in the meat industry grew their first venture together: a mobile food and coffee trailer culminating some of the best produce country Victoria has to offer. In 2017 a brand new custom-built truck was added to the fleet and in 2020 another.
Although Adrian’s outstanding skills mean they are able to cater for just about anything, they offer mainly American-influenced gourmet BBQ style fare – think pulled meats, sliders, burgers and Southern-fried chicken. The majority of the meat used comes from the family’s properties ensuring a true paddock-to-plate experience.
