Please visit Life Saving Victoria for information on beach patrolled seasons. Located on the coast of Louttit Bay, Lorne main beach is the only coastline patrolled during the summer months. The sheltered two-kilometre beach is safer than most, as Point Grey affords the shoreline considerable protection. Embraced by lush lawns, gum trees and picnic and barbecue facilities, the coast renovates with sundown transforming into the picture-perfect outdoor entertaining destination. Victoria’s premier seaside retreat, Lorne main beach is the perfect place to relax and unwind whilst the saltwater helps to purify the body, mind and soul. Always swim between the flags when lifeguards are on duty, as the beach can experience strong currents. Facilities include: Beach wheelchair and hoist (bookings required two business days prior) Beach access matting (available from 2 Jan – 14 April 2024) Disabled parking Disabled toilet Lorne Surf Life Saving Club has a Mobi-Chair is available for free hire from Great Ocean Road Coast and Parks Authority (GORCAPA), from the Lorne Surf Lifesaving Club. See below for more information about the Mobi-Chair. A hoist is available on site, however you will need to provide your own sling. Users will require the assistance of one or more carers to access the wheelchair and for water safety.
