Located just 5 kilometres inland from the coastal town of Lorne, Erskine Falls is one of the Great Ocean Road’s most iconic waterfalls. Situated within the lush rainforest of the Great Otway National Park, the falls plunge 30 metres into the fern-filled gorge below. Visitors can choose to visit one or both of the lookouts, each offering a unique perspective of the stunning waterfall.
A car park is conveniently located near the falls, providing easy access to the walking trails and viewing areas. Public toilets are available at the car park. Other facilities are limited, come prepared.
Lookout One
From the car park, it’s an easy walk to the first lookout. The paved track with steps takes visitors to a stunning viewpoint overlooking the falls and the tree canopy below. This lookout offers a fantastic view with minimal effort. Distance is 300 metres return, approx. 15 minutes walk.
Lookout Two
For a more immersive experience, continue along the path from Lookout One to reach Lookout Two. This is a more strenuous walk, as the path descends over 300 steps to the base of the falls. The stunning views of the waterfall from below make the climb down (and back up) worthwhile. Distance is 700 metres return, approx. 30 minutes walk.
The path to the base of the falls can be slippery, especially after rain. Visitors should wear appropriate footwear and take extra care when walking near the waterfall.
