Dandos campground, 2.5 hours drive south-west of Melbourne, is on a bend of the Gellibrand River and a great spot for fishing, picnics or camping. It is a perfect base for exploring the lush rainforest of the Otway region.
The spacious and remote campground is a popular site with a large grassy area for camping. It has a separate day visitor and camping area, with about 20 campsites available.
It offers a variety of recreational activities, including walking and four-wheel driving. Visitors can enjoy access to the river year-round.
If you visit in the warmer months be sure to take a dip in the river or check out the secluded water hole to the north-west of the site.
The site is unpowered. It has basic facilities, including toilets, picnic tables and firepits with barbeque plates.
There’s plenty of shade and the large open grassy area makes it a great spot for kids. Please supervise children near the water.
