Phantom Falls, a 15-metre waterfall nestled in the heart of the Otway National Park, offers a captivating natural setting. This a popular hiking track within the Otway National Park. From Lorne, drive 10 minutes up Allenvale Road until you reach the Allenvale Mill Picnic Grounds. After starting the track you’ll cross the St George River and skirt around the edge of a private orchard.
Continue on the track along the river’s edge until it turns into a vehicle track above the rocky bed of the St George River (here you’ll find some steep sections with loose gravel) passing stunning Australian Bushlands . Soon you’ll arrive at the top of Phantom Falls, descend down the stairs to the large pool at the base.
The Phantom Falls hike is a 90 minute return walk, covering 3.5 kilometres. For the more experienced hikers, take the strenuous walk to Cora Lynn Cascades or continue on to The Canyon and Sheoak Picnic Area. The beginning of this track is located at the top of Phantom Falls.
