This human sundial is designed to celebrate whales which are viewed through their migration from areas around Portland.

How to use the analemmatic (human) sundial:

Stand on the body of the Koontabul Ngeerrang (whale mother) at the correct month. Turn to face your shadow. The line of your shadow points to the time on the arc of shells. Add one hour during Daylight Savings Summer Time.
