About

Whales begin arriving in May and stay until early October, when they make the return journey to Antarctica.

Victorian waters will be busy over the next few months as humpbacks migrate through and southern right whales come back to rest and raise their young.

Popular lookout points are, e.g., Cape Otway, Twelve Apostles and Logan’s Beach in Warrnambool.

To keep everyone safe, all you need to do is stay alert, slow down, and give them space!

Follow all distance rules as they apply to your vessel or aircraft. Take part in ARI’s Whaleface project. You can report sightings and upload photos via their website. Report whale sightings via the website. Report wildlife crime to Crime Stoppers Victoria.
