About

The Wando Lodge vineyard is situated on the red gum-studded rolling hills of the Henty tableland, in Wando Vale, south-west Victoria. It is a single variety vineyard of one hectare, devoted exclusively to Cabernet Sauvignon and managed according to organic principles.

In 2009, award winning winemaker, Scott Ireland (Provenance Wines) and a favourite of James Halliday, was appointed to make the wine. Bunches are hand-sorted in the vineyard, crushed and destemmed at the winery and matured in French oak barrels for up to 18 months. Scott was selected for his approach of non-interference (via chemicals or other) during the process, which produces a wine reminiscent of its origins. Scott describes the product as an elegant, European-style red wine.
