The Great Ocean Road is an iconic region in Australia, filled with picturesque scenes and unforgettable landmarks. The London Bridge Walk has one of the best vantage points in Port Campbell, and you’ll have an amazing view of the ocean from here. The site has two viewing platforms so you’ll be able to get a great view of the Bridge, the beach and the blue oceans.
Unfortunately, one of the London Arches collapsed back in 1990, so it is now impossible to walk on London Bridge as it has disconnected from the mainland. Regardless, the views are breathtaking and the pictures you’ll get will be wonderful reminders of Australia’s beauty.
If you are travelling along the Great Ocean Road you most likely stop in the small town of Port Campbell. We recommend staying at least a few nights in the area since there is so much to do. Port Campbell is among many of the popular attractions along the Great Ocean Road.
The London Bridge is a few kilometres to the west of Port Campbell in the Port Campbell National Park. It’s about a five-minute car ride and you can also get there via public transport. Once you arrive at the car park, it’s only a short walk to the viewing platforms. The entrance is wheelchair accessible.
The London Bridge along the Great Ocean Road is not only special for its amazing views but also for the wildlife that lives along the shore. Depending on the season you visit, you might catch a glimpse of the penguin colony that lives on the beach at the foot of the rock cliffs. They usually appear at dusk or dawn.
The London Bridge is also a spectacular destination for bird watchers. Thousands of different species of birds fly through this area on their migration routes, so you can always expect to see something new.
If you’re en route to visit the London Bridge then make sure you spend some time exploring the surrounding coastline. Just a few minutes down the road you’ll find the Arch, another natural rock formation, and the Grotto, a hollowed-out cave and a great coastal viewpoint.
