Enjoy this wonderful 53km, 106km return, trail in parts or plan a wonderful weekend meandering through historic goldfields sites, traversing a majestic trestle bridge and taking in the wonderful rolling hills and pockets of forest between Ballarat and Skipton.
Completed signage, good separation from road traffic and a maximum of 2% gradient make this trail ideal for a great family excursion.
A well drained crushed granite surface was delivered to most parts of the trail in 2008 making it suitable for all cyclists (road bikes are recommended to have a tyre profile of at least one inch).
The trail is utilised by walkers, cyclists, horse riders and bird watchers making use of the section which travels through Clarkesdale bird sanctuary (near Linton).
The trail terminates in the delightful town of Skipton. Stop for lunch, stay the night and make sure you try and spot a platypus from the dedicated viewing platform on Mt Emu Creek.
Comprehensive maps and information on the trail can be found on the website.
Plan a wonderful fresh air weekend with your family and make the most of this wonderful community asset.
Walkers can make use of V/Line coach services between Ballarat and Warrnambool and use sections of the trail. V/Line bus services will only take folding bicycles on scheduled coach services.
