Travel hungry? These 5 food stops are far from ordinary.

1. Great Ocean Road Bakery in Lorne

Been up early for a swim or surf? Packing the car to head to the next destination? Or, maybe you’re just driving through? Well, the coffee will be on, the cakes fresh and the sandwiches ready to go at the Great Ocean Road Bakery. Stretch your legs and take a breather.

2. Tastes of the Region in Apollo Bay

Behind the Great Ocean Road Brewhouse is a delicious little den full of all types of food products and beverages mainly sourced from the Otways region – called Tastes of the Region. Grab some chocolate to have in the car with your coffee, or some artisan cheese for your picnic stop that afternoon. Grab some Prickly Moses hand crafted beer to enjoy at your accommodation that night.

3. Yield Restaurant and Providore in Birregurra

Part of the Otway Harvest Trail, Yield is a degustation restaurant in Birregurra focusing on seasonal produce grown in local paddocks. They also have a providore full of locally made goodies. So, if you’re entering the Otways from the Princes Highway (or heading home that way), call in and grab something decadent to nibble on (or take home if you are strong willed).

5. Cheese World Great Ocean Road in Allansford

In case you didn’t know, this part of the region is one of Australia’s biggest dairy producers and that means our cheese products rock! If you love cheese you are in for a treat at Cheese World Great Ocean Road in Allansford (which is 10 minutes from Warrnambool). The knowledgeable staff will take you through the different varieties of cheese and all the other yummies that go with them. There’s a cafe there if you’d rather sit in and take a break from driving. The milkshakes have quite the reputation, too!
