Boat Bay

Anybody who has ever backed a trailer needs to have a look at this ramp! Lots of offshore stacks are visible in this sheltered bay. This spot is part of the larger Bay of Islands Coastal Park.

Boat Bay is a quiet retreat perfect for nature lovers and those looking to get away from the busier parts of the Great Ocean Road. The sheltered bay is a popular spot for local fishermen, who use the only boat ramp between Port Campbell and Warrnambool to access the ocean. While the boat ramp serves as a vital access point for local anglers, it’s also a fantastic location for visitors to enjoy the view of the offshore stacks dotting the bay. The area offers an unspoiled natural landscape, perfect for relaxation, photography, or simply soaking in the coastal scenery.

Getting to Boat Bay

Boat Bay is just 4.3 km west of Peterborough, easily accessed by car. From Peterborough, head west along the Great Ocean Road until you reach the turnoff for Boat Bay. Visitors can enjoy ample parking at Boat Bay and walk to either the beach or the lookout.

TIP: Don’t even think about driving down the ramp, local tow truck operators don’t appreciate the extra business and are notoriously hard to get a hold of when Boat Bay is mentioned.
