How to Spend a Day on the Yaugher Trails

The Yaugher (northern) network is located north of the township. Grab your provisions in town and then ride (5 minutes) up the Tiger Rail Trail to the Yaugher trailhead. The trails at Yaugher range from beginner to expert but with a few more black runs than the southern network.

Where to begin?

A good warm-up or warm-down ride is Barre Warre – Yaugher’s family-friendly loop. This high vantage point looks down on the Barwon River valley taking in the view back over the Forrest Township and is a favourite among locals.

Into the action

If you’re warmed up and ready for more then it’s time to head to one of the ‘more difficult’ trails.

The Yaugher Super Loop is Forrest’s longest trail and it provides access to the entire Yaugher trail network. It is a mixture of single-track and fire trails with a full range of trail features, all with A and B lines. It is fast-paced with lots of obstacles and you’ll be feeling the burn in no time at all.

Other intermediate trails you might want to check out in the Yaugher include: Fox Tail – the trail named after the man who started the Forrest MTB dream and takes you from the Yaugher trailhead to Tabletop and on to join the Yaugher Super Loop, J2 is another long flowing descent trail from the Yaugher trailhead and Vista is the trail that started all the rest.

Adrenaline pumping

For those more experienced riders, this is what you have been waiting for!

Marriners Run boasts some of the best flowing berms that you’ll ever ride and is one of Forrest MTB’s signature experiences. It is a technical run that will test even the most experienced mountain bikers.

If that’s not enough then there are a number of other ‘very difficult’ trails in the Yaugher network to fill your weekend. Grass Trees is a short trail you can repeat over and over again – and you will want to with plenty of log rides, rollovers, step-ups, drop-offs, big 4X berms, and jumps. Casper Black is for those with a strong disposition with twisting technical climbs and descents and the walls of Tea tree characterising this tough and challenging trail.
