Walks & Rides

One of the best ways to get to know a place is on foot or on a bicycle. Anglesea offers plenty of opportunities for both.

Go for a Walk

Walk 1: Approx. 5 km (90 minutes) one way - 'Medium'.
Start on either the track on the east side of the river or at the eastern side of the river mouth. Enter the caravan park and follow the bitumen road around the ocean side of the park. Surf Coast walking track signs are posted, so follow them through to Point Addis. The walk offers magnificent views as you pass through coastal heathland. You can also complete the circuit by walking back along the beach but it must be low tide.

Walk 2: Approx. 2hours - 'Medium'.
Take the first left after the golf club entrance (Golf Links Rd Ext.). At the end of the bitumen road, follow the track to the right until you come to the Surf Coast walk marker. Head left along the narrow track. Follow the Surf Coast walk to the top of Mt. Ingoldsby. Follow the track to the left that runs parallel to the gravel road. This brings you to Harvey Street. Follow this back into Anglesea. Features great views and a pleasant walk through heathlands. Fantastic in spring. Keep a lookout for kangaroos and red-necked wallabies.

Walk 3: Beach walk - Anglesea main beach to Point Roadknight. (20 minutes) - 'Easy'. For a longer walk - 75 minutes total - continue to Urquharts Bluff. Walk is best done on low tide, particularly the Anglesea to Point Roadknight section. Point Roadknight to Urquharts Bluff can be done on higher tide.

Walk 4: (40 minutes) - 'Easy'.
Leave post office. Cross Anglesea River. Turn right and walk along the river to Coogoorah Park where there are boardwalks, a playground and fishing. Cross the river via the walking bridge, turn right and walk along the river. Turn left up to Camp Rd and come back to the post office.
