Nature itself is usually the biggest attraction with the beach adjoining the forest unbeatable. There are some more special places of interest.
The Cape Otway Lightstation complex is one of the most significant in Australia, offering visitors a chance to stand atop an ancient lighthouse, explore living history in the Telegraph Station, or take a guided tour. Located on Cape Otway, it was designed by the Colonial architect Mortimer Lewis in the Greek revival style. The tower was completed in 1848 nearly 50 years after the first ship entered Bass Strait. This tower was constructed of sandstone and transported to Cape Otway by bullock drays. The Lightstation is open to visitors between 9.00 a.m. and 5.00 p.m. the last entry is 4.45 p.m. These hours may be extended to 6.00 p.m. over the January school holidays. A cafe facility is on site.
Located inland from the coast near Beech Forest, the Otway Fly Treetop Walk is the worlds longest and highest treetop walkway. It offers a not-to-be-missed Otways experience, with a 45 metre tower offering thrilling views over the tree tops towards the coast.
