Located just five minutes past Lavers Hill along the Great Ocean Road, Melba Gully is about 50 minutes inland from Colac and 40 minutes before reaching the 12 Apostles.
Known as the “Jewel of the Otways,” Melba Gully is a lush, temperate rainforest featuring Myrtle Beech, Blackwood, and towering Tree Ferns. Visitors can enjoy the Madsen’s Track Nature Walk, a 1.2 km loop that takes around 30 minutes and leads through ancient moss-covered trees and cool fern gullies. The walk offers an opportunity to see glow worms after dark.
Melba Gully is famous for being one of the wettest spots in Victoria, which has led to its plant life and rainforest environment. The glow worms are a unique draw for visitors, offering a magical experience in the evening (bring a torch). It’s also ideal for spotting native wildlife.
